beta-Casein (Opalia BC-1)

Our primary commercial ingredient. BC-1 is a native-conformation beta-Casein fraction produced by bovine mammary epithelial cells in our 200L pilot bioreactor. The protein retains its natural phosphorylation pattern and maintains micellar self-assembly under food-processing conditions.

BC-1 performs comparably to conventional bovine casein in acid-gel applications, heat-treated dairy analogs, and high-protein RTD beverages. Full documentation is provided with every sample order.

Whey fractions

Whey protein fractions

alpha-Lactalbumin and beta-Lactoglobulin are co-expressed in development batches, targeting food-grade output in Q3 2026. These fractions extend our platform into foam-stable and gel-forming whey protein applications.

Whey fraction

alpha-Lactalbumin

Provides foam stability and contributes to the heat-induced gel network in dairy-analog applications. Target purity target: 90% min. (RP-HPLC).

Status Dev, Q3 2026
Whey fraction

beta-Lactoglobulin

Primary whey gel-forming protein. Critical for RTD beverage protein fortification and cold-process dairy-analog systems. Co-expressed with alpha-Lactalbumin.

Status Dev, Q3 2026
Blended fraction

Native whey concentrate

Whole whey protein fraction containing both alpha-Lac and beta-Lac at native ratios. Suited for applications requiring the full complement of whey gelation behavior.

Status Dev, Q4 2026

Custom protein fractions

Our AI-controlled bioprocess can shift secretion ratios toward a target fraction by adjusting media composition and culture conditions. This means we can develop application-specific protein blends for partners with defined functional requirements.

The custom development process begins with a technical consultation to define your target functionality profile: texture, solubility, heat stability, gelation behavior, or other parameters. We then design a series of pilot batches to converge on a cell-culture protocol that delivers your specification.

Custom development agreements are available to partners who complete our early-access program. Contact our formulation team to discuss your application.
