("the Company," "we," "us," or "our"), located at 1250 Rene-Levesque Blvd West, Suite 2200, Montreal, QC H3B 2Y5, Canada, operates opaliafood.com and the associated manufacturer partner portal (together, the "Service"). The Company is responsible for personal information collected through the Service under PIPEDA and under Quebec Law 25, which imposes additional obligations on organizations operating in Quebec.

Opalia is a cell-agriculture ingredient supplier. Our website and partner portal serve food manufacturers and ingredient companies evaluating animal-free dairy proteins for formulation use. The personal information we process is business-to-business in nature: it comes from industry professionals contacting us about sample requests, technical partnerships, and portal access, not from consumers purchasing a finished product.

2. Personal Information We Collect

The Company collects only information necessary for the purposes described in this Policy. This includes:

• Partner application and sample-request submissions: when you complete the partner application form, we collect your name, company name, job title, business email address, application type (sample request, partnership discussion, or technical evaluation), and the message describing your formulation context or inquiry.
• Contact form submissions: name, company, email, inquiry type, and message submitted through the contact page.
• Partner portal account data: email address and hashed password used to authenticate into the manufacturer portal; records of portal activity such as pages accessed and documentation viewed.
• Technical information collected automatically: IP address, browser type and version, operating system, referring URL, pages visited, and session timestamps. This information is collected via server logs and first-party analytics tools.

The Company does not collect payment card data, health information about individual consumers, or sensitive personal information beyond what is described above. Pilot-program technical data shared with partner companies (batch specifications, HPLC profiles) relates to Opalia's ingredient products, not to individual persons, and is not personal information for the purposes of this Policy.

3. Purposes We Identify at Collection

We collect personal information to respond to your inquiries, operate and improve the Service, communicate with you, and meet legal obligations. We will not use information for materially different purposes without notifying you and, where required, obtaining consent. Our specific purposes include:

• Processing and responding to sample requests, partnership inquiries, and technical evaluation applications.
• Creating and managing manufacturer partner portal accounts and providing access to ingredient specifications, batch documentation, and technical data sheets.
• Sending relevant communications about ingredient availability, bioprocess developments, and updates to our product line, where you have requested or consented to receive them.
• Operating and improving the website and partner platform, using anonymized analytics data.
• Complying with legal and contractual obligations applicable to a life sciences ingredient supplier operating in Quebec.

4. Consent

Where required by PIPEDA or Law 25, the Company obtains meaningful consent before collecting, using, or disclosing personal information. You provide express consent when you submit a partner application, contact form, or register for a portal account. For technical and analytics data collected automatically, consent is provided through your continued use of the Service after reviewing this Policy and our Cookie Policy. You may withdraw consent at any time, subject to legal or contractual restrictions, by contacting [email protected]. Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal.

5. Limiting Use, Disclosure, and Retention

The Company uses personal information only for the purposes for which it was collected, except with your consent or as required by law. Retention periods are as follows:

• Partner account data is retained while the account remains active and for a reasonable period following account closure to fulfill any residual commercial commitments or legal obligations.
• Inquiry and sample-request records are retained for the duration of the commercial relationship and for up to three years after its conclusion, consistent with standard B2B supplier record-keeping practices.
• Technical log and analytics data is retained for up to 13 months, then deleted or anonymized.

The Company does not sell personal information. We may share it with service providers acting on our behalf (such as hosting and analytics providers) under data processing agreements that limit their use of the data. We may also disclose information if required by applicable law, court order, or to protect our legitimate legal interests.

6. Your Rights Under PIPEDA and Law 25
